![]() ![]() The story underpinning Tomb Raider: Anniversary was, with one of two very minor changes, a direct retelling of the 1996 Core Design original.īack in 1945, atomic testing in Los Alamos unexpectedly unearthed an arcane device – and its decidedly non-human occupant – from deep beneath the desert. It was later released on the Xbox 360 and Mac OS X, and in 2011 a remastered version was released on the PlayStation 3 as part of the Tomb Raider Trilogy Collection ( Legend, Anniversary, and Underworld). Tomb Raider: Anniversary, published by Eidos Interactive and developed by Crystal Dynamics and Buzz Monkey Software, was released on the PlayStation 2, Windows, the PlayStation Portable (PSP), and the Nintendo Wii in June 2007. In October 2006, Eidos officially announced that Crystal Dynamics was developing Tomb Raider: Anniversary – a ‘ completely new vision’ of the original Tomb Raider story.Īnniversary mirrored many iconic cinematic moments from its predecessor In August 2006, Ian Livingstone hinted that a special new game was in the works and that formal details would be released later in the year. In 2006, even before the release of Tomb Raider: Legend, the thoughts of publishers, developers, and fans alike were inevitably turning towards the ten-year anniversary of the very first Tomb Raider game. To someone who never messed with you.Welcome back to Survivor Reborn’s Retrospective series, where today we’ll be delving into the development and reception of Crystal Dynamics’ ten-year celebration of the very first Tomb Raider – Tomb Raider: Anniversary. Again telling other TR fans what to do and what to love and what not to hate. Those who came after (Lela, LAUra, Laraboot) are just impostors.īesides, the rudeness. The original, true Lara Croft disappeared in 2003, after TRAOD sequel was cancelled. I think Underworld is, so far, the best of all three, but it’s not good enough and she’s still no Lara Croft. Period. The only good thing about them are better graphics and, sometimes, really nice music and athmosphere. They tried to make her more “relatable” then and all they got is a lackluster copy of the real Lara Croft.Īnd don’t make me talk about the games themselves. She is similar, she tries to be the same, but she fails because Classic Lara had no family drama in her life and her goals and motivations for tomb raiding had nothing to do with her mommy and her daddy. I don’t like LAU trilogy because she is not Lara Croft. Not to the plot, nor to the personality of the main character. Waaaaait a minute. This anon really thinks that LAU Lara is Classic Lara?!!Ĭ’mon, seriously… if this anon think they are the same, she/he haven’t been paying attention. We, as Lara Croft’s fans, should stand for the classic Lara.” “However, I don’t think you should hate Tomb Raider Legend, Anniversary and Underworld. I’m not going to post all your SEVEN long anon messages, I’m sure you have an account so if you think those games are so great and deserve more love just do it yourself on you own tumblr without hiding. Why should we all be clones with the same tastes? I’d never try to impose my personal preferences and opinions on anyone. I also like the movies but if someone criticizes them I can totally admit they’re quite shitty. For example, some of us didn’t like the AoD or Chronicles, and I love them, and on the other hand The Last Revelation is considered one of the best games but it isn’t one of my favorites. We don’t have to like to same games to stand for the classics. ![]() You have the right to hate the reboot and love the L/A/U, and I have the right to hate both. So, what’s the problem? I’m not even going to explain why not a single Crystal Dynamic game is a classic Tomb Raider (tho you should know they already rebooted Lara in TR Legend). So you’re telling me that as long as I hate something you also hate I’m completely right, but when it comes to something you like I’m so wrong, uh?īesides, I’m tired of having to excuse myself, but the only post where I’ve ever mentioned one of those games is this, and I not even being hateful or disrespectful. Thank you for the compliment, but I’m REALLY tired of people telling me what to do, just imagine how I feel about an anon telling me what to hate and what not. ![]()
